Our Environment – To Tatou Taiao

Our School Grounds & Facilities

At our school, we’re proud to offer a vibrant and inclusive learning environment that extends well beyond the classroom. Our thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces cater to students of all ages and abilities, with a variety of playgrounds featuring climbing frames, swings, slides, and areas for imaginative and active play.

Our grounds are alive with hands-on learning opportunities. Students help care for our chickens and bee hives, while our orchard and vegetable garden support our Garden to Table programme, teaching tamariki where food comes from and how to grow, harvest, and prepare it.

We offer a range of spaces for both physical activity and quiet recreation. Our bike track supports confident, active riders, and a giant outdoor chess board encourages strategic thinking and social interaction. For water safety and skill development, our on-site swimming pool is a much-loved facility used regularly during the warmer months.

Creativity and cultural learning also have a special place in our environment. Outdoor musical instruments invite exploration through sound, and our whare provides a unique space for outdoor classwork, storytelling, and deepening our connection with te ao Māori.

Our facilities are more than just spaces—they’re an extension of our values: whakapuāwai/flourishing forward through – pākiki/curiosity, aumangea/resilience, ahurea tuakiri/being me, kaitiaki/guardianship and whakaute/respect.

Library

We have a fantastic library at Marlborough Primary School which is open during the school day. The Library is also open on Wednesday afternoons from 3-3.30 pm for parents to use with their children. You can find out which book your child has got out from the library by accessing the Library database by clicking on the link below. You will need your child’s bar code number to access the database. Please contact your child’s teacher if you need a copy of this.
